Weird Things About Me

I cry in movies that people don't normally cry in, and laugh in movies where people usually cry.

When I read a love story I get really giddy and giggle to myself and I kind of shake with excitement.

When I'm done reading a love story I want to squeal and jump up and down with joy. I also walk around afterwards with the biggest, goofiest grin that won't go away no matter what I try.

When it's time to go to bed I get so happy sometimes I shake when I get in my bed.

When someone touches my leg I have to itch/rub 'off' the spot they touched.

I can't sleep with my covers as blankets, I have to be on top of them.

I have to curl the blanket under my feet when I go to bed.

I can quote any movie if I've seen it at least once and I can recognize a quote from any movie I've seen at least once.

I have more than 10,000 pins on Pinterest and counting.

I'm a typical dumb blonde.

When I close my eyes sometimes I feel like my head his rapidly shaking back and forth and then I feel sick.

I can relate anything to Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Sherlock or Merlin (basically any show I've ever watched, I just automatically go with these ones).

Whenever Josh Groban Christmas or David Archuletta Christmas comes on, I automatically start falling asleep because they're voices are so soothing and wonderful.

Whenever I play a racing game with a controller, I have to move my body with the game or else I feel like I'm going to crash (did that make sense?).

When something grazes my neck I twitch and lean my neck towards the itch cringe.

I can't walk on grates in the road. They freak me out.

I love reading the wrappers of Dove chocolates and the Pep Talk in a Drop cough drops. They make me feel awesome.

My thinking place has become the bathroom. No one ever bothers me in there and it's quiet enough I can just let my thoughts wander.

Sometimes Christmas music gets on my nerves.

Sometimes when I stretch while standing, my leg starts bouncing up and down uncontrollably until I stop stretching.

I think one of the most magical things when it snows at night.

When I load the dishes I have to have the same number of utensils in all the utensil holders until they are so full I can't tell the difference in how much are in each.

I think when I sleep, I sleep with a confused look upon my face so I have permanent lines across my forehead when I wake up.

I always get out of the car as fast as I can. I have no idea why it's just an natural impulse.

Every time I read a love story and a cute part happens my hand automatically goes to my heart and stays there until the cute part is over.

When I cry, I feel like my tears must go up because my eyelids are always sopping wet.

I don't wear matching socks.

I can't drink tap water from the bathroom sink, it freaks me out.

In badminton class, I realized every time someone missed, hit the net, didn't catch the birdie or hit the birdie out of bounds I said "ohp". So I said it pretty much every five seconds.

When I eat cereal, I have to push every piece of cereal in the milk before I start eating it.

When I eat popcorn, I like to set the piece on my hand and touch the tip of my tongue to it barely sticks.

You know how some people use the same cup every day and don't wash it? I can't do that. I can hardly use the same cup an hour after I've used it.

When I eat goldfish, I like to try to bite it in half so I have two fishies.

When I eat a pretzel, I eat off the three round parts first so I have a weird shape from the middle and then eat it.

Sometimes, I really do sniff books.

I have an obsession with puffy clouds and stars, they are my favorite pieces in nature.

My Sister, The Missionary

Tomorrow, my sister will be going to the MTC. She is going to the Canada, Montreal, French speaking mission. She's going to be in the MTC for only two weeks because of her awesome French speaking skills. This post is a tribute to her. I hope she'll be able to see it before tomorrow, if not then her loss.My sister is amazing. She's so positive and uplifting and just generally fun to be around.  Did I mention she's a ginger? But she has plenty of soul.

She's always trying to get me to be more social and get out of my little bubble, which is very thoughtful of her. I'm very grateful to her for letting me hang out with her and her friends on some nights. Since I was in junior high and she was in high school, I always wanted to be fun, outgoing, likeable like she was. When people asked me "Are you Sydnie Landeen's little sister?" It got a little annoying because she was so popular so everyone would ask it, but I was always proud to answer "yes".

Well Syd, I know I didn't cry when we dropped you off at college, and I probably won't cry when we drop you off at the MTC today. I'm sorry, it just isn't as moving as John Smith and Pocahontas being split up ;). I just want you to know that I love you and I'll miss you. Who else is going to 'sleep' yell at me when I'm screaming at my t.v. show in the middle of the night?

Well, you know what they say.....Goodbye's are not forever. Goodbye's are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you, until we meet again.

I'm so thankful for the example you are setting for me by serving the Lord. You'll do great! I miss you already. I love you!!

Pinterest

As some of you know, I am utterly obsessed with the website called Pinterest. I have over 9,000 pins, which is bad if you compare it to my friends but isn't as bad if you compare it to others who have 24,000.
To give you some examples of how much I'm on here, whenever I say something funny or saying "I saw this one time..." my roommates automatically say "was it on Pinterest?" and I smile sheepishly at them and say yes.
When my friend texted me yesterday she said "so what are you doing today besides being on Pinterest?"
I was watching a Jazz game once at my neighbors and a commercial for Pinterest came on and I screamed "yay!!! Pinterest!!" The kid next to me stared at me and said "There have been so many great plays in the game and the only thing you get excited about is a Pinterest commercial???"
I thought that I would take some of my favorite pins that describe me most and put them on here for you to look at or not look at if you don't feel like it. Mostly I'm just doing it because I'm bored and it seemed like a fun thing to do.

I'm sure I could put a lot more on here but my mom just came in and scolded me for always being on my computer...she threatened to make me practice piano for every minute I am on Pintersest. If I actually had to follow through with that threat, I would possibly be the best piano that ever existed, which now shows you how much I am on that website.

GOALS

For my leadership class, our final is doing something creative about what goals we have. I asked two of my classmates what they would be doing and they said a poem and a collage. I didn't want to copy them, so I decided to do a blog post. I figured no one would do it too and I wanted it to be different. Pretty creative huh? I really wanted to do an acrostic poem of the words 'goals' as well so I'm mixing the two up. Here's my acrostic poem, and then I'll explain why I chose what I did.

Good
Optimism
Academic
Leader
Strength

I chose 'good' because I want to do good in the world.

I chose 'optimism' because I want to be optimistic, I don't like pessimistic people and I don't want to be a person I don't like.

I chose 'academic' because I want to do well in school and get a good education.

I chose 'leader' because everyone is a leader in one way or another and I want to be a good one.

I chose 'strength' because I want to have the strength to stand up for my beliefs and to stand up for what's right.

So basically, I want to be a good, happy person that people can look up to. I want to be a good role model for people around me.

My Doctor Who Addiction

Doctor Who. Where do I start? I suppose how I became acquainted with the show...
It all started with my cousins. At my family reunions I would always listen in on the my cousins conversations and they would consist of Doctor Who and Harry Potter. I could relate to Harry Potter, but not Doctor Who. I didn't have Cable or Netflix at the time so I couldn't watch it, so I always kind of felt left out of their cousin group. Then last year, when my other cousin started watching them, he gave me his Netflix password and I started watching them. Let's just say I got addicted and didn't really do anything besides watch the show. My little sister watched with me so naturally she got just as addicted as me. I even got my friend's brother, Quinn, addicted to it as well.
I was at my cousins one day, it may have been for March Madness, and she put on her wedding dress so we could see what it looked like. She was going to be getting married in a couple of months later. While she had it on, her mom told her she looked so beautiful and had a 'special' smile on her face whenever she tried on her dress and thought about her wedding. I promptly stated, "I get that look when I watch Doctor Who..."

"What is Doctor Who?" You may be wondering, well I found a few wonderful descriptions:

It's true. Doctor Who is all of this and more. The special effects may be horribly crazy, some of the story lines may be super weird, but I love every minute of every episode. There are episodes that make you cry because you're laughing so hard and there are some that make you cry because it's just so heartbreaking. There are lessons to be learned in each episode and I won't forget one. You hear people say they want a love like Edward and Bella or a love like Romeo and Juliet etc. Well, I want a love like The Doctor and Rose. I don't suffer from an addiction to Doctor Who, I am perfectly content with my addiction. On my Pinterest, I may (or may not) have over 1,500 pins on my Doctor Who board.

If after reading this blog post, you feel like you might want to watch the series, here is what will happen to you:

Everything in this video is correct, except where she started. I wouldn't start in the middle of the series, because you would be even more confused than you would by starting at the beginning. Start by watching the episode "Rose" with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and don't you DARE skip him. He was my first Doctor, and you never forget your first Doctor.

This post probably makes me sound crazy and weird, but we all of our addictions. For my cousin, it's coca-cola. For my mom, it's BBC Period Drama movies (Pride and Prejudice, Cranford etc.). For me, it's Doctor Who (and some other BBC shows like Sherlock and Merlin). You know what people say, don't knock it until you try it. And even then, don't bash on Doctor Who when you're with me or you might get hurt.

There is so much more I want to say, but I don't know how to say it. So I'll just leave you with the words of Steven Spielburg:
