How Donating Hair Leads to a Fiance

For a while now, I've been thinking of donating my hair. It's been super duper long and I remember my mom donated hers a couple years ago and I thought it would be cool to donate mine. I told my mom a few weeks ago that I wanted to do this and she kind of just brushed it off. Today, I asked our neighbor if she would cut it for me (someone who cuts hair, not just a random neighbor). My mom immediately said no. I was like "Mom, it's my hair, what's the big deal?" and you know what her response was? Something I totally wasn't expecting...She said "When I first donated my hair, your father proposed to me" I know she meant that to deter me, but it totally made me want to cut it more. Maybe I will finally have a boyfriend! Who knew all you needed to do to get a fiance was to donate your hair? I would've done it a while ago if I knew that's all I needed to do ;).
It's been a little discouraging lately seeing my roommates all going on dates and having boys get interested in them and I'm just sitting there like, yeah...Netflix is great....so is ice cream....and then people are like, hey if you're not dating anyone, you should go on a mission and I'm like, no. So don't worry people, I've finally donated my hair so if everything works out like my mom thinks, I should be dating someone shortly. It's funny that that was her reason for me not getting my haircut because she talks about how I need a boyfriend all the time and how she wants grand kids. She later tried to cover it up by saying she doesn't want me to have short hair for my wedding, but we all know she just isn't ready for what she really wants (a son-in-law and grand babies).
Well, anyways...here's a before and after picture of my haircut just in case you really wanted to see it. I cut ten inches off...it's shorter than I thought it would be but whatevs, it'll grow back.

My Boring Life

Hello cruel world. It's me again. I got reprimanded for not blogging very often, so I'm going to try to be better at it. "What's going on?" you may ask. Well let me answer that for you. Nothing. Nothing is going on in my life. I wake up, go to school, come home, do homework, watch tv, eat and sleep. Wow. so invigorating, I know. I'll try not to let it be too boring for you to read. You've probably already turned to a different website.
Well, for Halloween, me and my friends dressed up as Mario, Peach and Luigi. It was a blast. Pretty sure no one knew who I was though because I wasn't in a dress or anything to make me stand out as Peach. We should've won the costume contest, obviously, but we didn't...
Also, I had the way better pumpkin, but everyone loved my sisters more. Can you guess which one is mine? Tinker Bell or The Avatar? If you get it wrong, you're wrong in life because you have horrid taste in pumpkin carving.
If you said, The Avatar, you suck. Mine is obviously Tinker Bell. You should be ashamed of yourself. Sure, Avatar is freakin awesome, and the detailing is way sweet, but do you know how long it took me to drill all the fairy dust into the pumpkin?! FOREVER! (Sandlot reference, if you got that, you went up in my ranking of you). Alright, you win, the Avatar one is way cooler. It was carved by my super artistic sister, Hannah. She's good at everything. It's a little annoying but I love her anyways. It's good for her that I decide to leave my talents hidden so she can have all the love and glory or else there would be none left for her ;) She really is amazing at artist stuff though. I mean, you should go follow her on instagram she's merlinsbeard101. You don't have to follow her, but you should go look at some of the pics.
Well, that's all you really need to know about my life right now. Was this a good enough post for you Ben?
This is Ben, he's the one that yelled at me for not blogging enough. So thanks to him, you'll learn more about my boring life. So when you want to threaten someone for making me torture you with my boring stories, call him.

Long Needed Update

Holy cow. Has it really been since March? I hope you didn't miss me too much. I know you check every day to see if I've posted, and every day you've been disappointed, until now. I'm back, and hopefully I'll be able to keep up the writing this time.
I'm back at my second year at SUU and lovin it! I'm now a Presidential Ambassador (whoo!) and it's fantastic.
This is just a small group of us at freshman orientation. I love them! Aren't they such a beautiful group of people? Especially the blonde in the middle... ;)

I turned 19 this summer, not a very big milestone in one's life, but hey, it feels great to say it.
Yes, the cake is already half eaten and yes my little sister is super jealous of me :).

I don't have much else to say except rest assured, I will try to post more religiously just for your entertainment :).

Weird Things About Me

I cry in movies that people don't normally cry in, and laugh in movies where people usually cry.

When I read a love story I get really giddy and giggle to myself and I kind of shake with excitement.

When I'm done reading a love story I want to squeal and jump up and down with joy. I also walk around afterwards with the biggest, goofiest grin that won't go away no matter what I try.

When it's time to go to bed I get so happy sometimes I shake when I get in my bed.

When someone touches my leg I have to itch/rub 'off' the spot they touched.

I can't sleep with my covers as blankets, I have to be on top of them.

I have to curl the blanket under my feet when I go to bed.

I can quote any movie if I've seen it at least once and I can recognize a quote from any movie I've seen at least once.

I have more than 10,000 pins on Pinterest and counting.

I'm a typical dumb blonde.

When I close my eyes sometimes I feel like my head his rapidly shaking back and forth and then I feel sick.

I can relate anything to Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Sherlock or Merlin (basically any show I've ever watched, I just automatically go with these ones).

Whenever Josh Groban Christmas or David Archuletta Christmas comes on, I automatically start falling asleep because they're voices are so soothing and wonderful.

Whenever I play a racing game with a controller, I have to move my body with the game or else I feel like I'm going to crash (did that make sense?).

When something grazes my neck I twitch and lean my neck towards the itch cringe.

I can't walk on grates in the road. They freak me out.

I love reading the wrappers of Dove chocolates and the Pep Talk in a Drop cough drops. They make me feel awesome.

My thinking place has become the bathroom. No one ever bothers me in there and it's quiet enough I can just let my thoughts wander.

Sometimes Christmas music gets on my nerves.

Sometimes when I stretch while standing, my leg starts bouncing up and down uncontrollably until I stop stretching.

I think one of the most magical things when it snows at night.

When I load the dishes I have to have the same number of utensils in all the utensil holders until they are so full I can't tell the difference in how much are in each.

I think when I sleep, I sleep with a confused look upon my face so I have permanent lines across my forehead when I wake up.

I always get out of the car as fast as I can. I have no idea why it's just an natural impulse.

Every time I read a love story and a cute part happens my hand automatically goes to my heart and stays there until the cute part is over.

When I cry, I feel like my tears must go up because my eyelids are always sopping wet.

I don't wear matching socks.

I can't drink tap water from the bathroom sink, it freaks me out.

In badminton class, I realized every time someone missed, hit the net, didn't catch the birdie or hit the birdie out of bounds I said "ohp". So I said it pretty much every five seconds.

When I eat cereal, I have to push every piece of cereal in the milk before I start eating it.

When I eat popcorn, I like to set the piece on my hand and touch the tip of my tongue to it barely sticks.

You know how some people use the same cup every day and don't wash it? I can't do that. I can hardly use the same cup an hour after I've used it.

When I eat goldfish, I like to try to bite it in half so I have two fishies.

When I eat a pretzel, I eat off the three round parts first so I have a weird shape from the middle and then eat it.

Sometimes, I really do sniff books.

I have an obsession with puffy clouds and stars, they are my favorite pieces in nature.

What Is Love?

I just really like this video...a lot....enough that I may have shed a tear or two. Watch it :)

My Sister, The Missionary

Tomorrow, my sister will be going to the MTC. She is going to the Canada, Montreal, French speaking mission. She's going to be in the MTC for only two weeks because of her awesome French speaking skills. This post is a tribute to her. I hope she'll be able to see it before tomorrow, if not then her loss.My sister is amazing. She's so positive and uplifting and just generally fun to be around.  Did I mention she's a ginger? But she has plenty of soul.

She's always trying to get me to be more social and get out of my little bubble, which is very thoughtful of her. I'm very grateful to her for letting me hang out with her and her friends on some nights. Since I was in junior high and she was in high school, I always wanted to be fun, outgoing, likeable like she was. When people asked me "Are you Sydnie Landeen's little sister?" It got a little annoying because she was so popular so everyone would ask it, but I was always proud to answer "yes".

Well Syd, I know I didn't cry when we dropped you off at college, and I probably won't cry when we drop you off at the MTC today. I'm sorry, it just isn't as moving as John Smith and Pocahontas being split up ;). I just want you to know that I love you and I'll miss you. Who else is going to 'sleep' yell at me when I'm screaming at my t.v. show in the middle of the night?

Well, you know what they say.....Goodbye's are not forever. Goodbye's are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you, until we meet again.

I'm so thankful for the example you are setting for me by serving the Lord. You'll do great! I miss you already. I love you!!

Pinterest

As some of you know, I am utterly obsessed with the website called Pinterest. I have over 9,000 pins, which is bad if you compare it to my friends but isn't as bad if you compare it to others who have 24,000.
To give you some examples of how much I'm on here, whenever I say something funny or saying "I saw this one time..." my roommates automatically say "was it on Pinterest?" and I smile sheepishly at them and say yes.
When my friend texted me yesterday she said "so what are you doing today besides being on Pinterest?"
I was watching a Jazz game once at my neighbors and a commercial for Pinterest came on and I screamed "yay!!! Pinterest!!" The kid next to me stared at me and said "There have been so many great plays in the game and the only thing you get excited about is a Pinterest commercial???"
I thought that I would take some of my favorite pins that describe me most and put them on here for you to look at or not look at if you don't feel like it. Mostly I'm just doing it because I'm bored and it seemed like a fun thing to do.

I'm sure I could put a lot more on here but my mom just came in and scolded me for always being on my computer...she threatened to make me practice piano for every minute I am on Pintersest. If I actually had to follow through with that threat, I would possibly be the best piano that ever existed, which now shows you how much I am on that website.
